Can I bid over the
Internet?
No, not at this time.

How do I bid? Bids must be placed through a CAN-AUTO
Sales Agent in person, or by phone before the closing time of the
auction.

What do I need to Bid? A valid
Drivers license, be at least 18 years old, and have left a bidding
deposit., signed a bidders contract.

Can the auction vehicle be taken for a test
drive? Yes, assuming
that there are no safety issues that would prevent a test drive. You
will need a valid drivers license, and ideally over 25 year of age.

Can I get a 10 day trip permit so I can move the
vehicle? If the
vehicle ownership is marked "fit" then yes. You will need valid
insurance, and there is a $15.00 charge for the trip permit from the
Ministry of Transportation. You will also need license plates to
put the trip permit on. If you don't have license plates, new ones
costs $20.00.

How does the auction end? The auction ends at 12:00 noon on the Saturday
posted. If at the 12:00 noon closing there is no other
bidder to challenge your current high bid, then congratulations, you
are the winner of the auction. If there is more then one bidder at the
12:00 noon closing, then bidding is finished by live auction.

Can I place a hidden bid? Yes, you can place a maximum bid you will go
to. As others bid, your CAN-AUTO Sales Agent will increase your
bid by an amount that you have approved. If your hidden bid is
out bid, then your CAN-AUTO Sales Agent will inform you. At that
point can either stop bidding, or raise you bid again.

You say that bidding deposits put on a credit card are
not charged, but only pre-authorized, what's does that
mean? By only
pre-authorizing your credit card, no monies are charged to your
credit card. CAN-AUTO must manually input a
pre-authorization code provided by you credit card to finalize the
deposit. This is only done if you are the winning bidder.
If you don't win the bid, then you credit card is never charged.
We do this because so bidding deposits are not going in and out of our
account.

Why
does it say the the vehicle is unreserved, but the opening bid is
$1500.00 or some other amount? The
opening bid is the lowest bid a consignor or CAN-AUTO is willing to
accept. As soon as one bid is placed over the opening bid, the
vehicle will be sold unreserved, even if that is the only bid.
- What is the lowest amount I can increase my
bid by? The minimum
increase for a bid is $25.00.
- What is the maximun amount I can increase
my bid by? The maximum
increase allowed for a bid is unlimited.
- Can
I sell my vehicle at your auction? Yes, CAN-AUTO has
specialized in consignment sale's since 1994. We offer six
different programs to market your vehicle for you. Ask a CAN-AUTO
Sales Agent for more info.
- What
is the "OMVIC fee" for? OMVIC is short for the
"Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council". OMVIC is the current
governing body for motor vehicle dealers in Ontario. As of
February 1, 2008, dealers are required to remit $5.00 for all retail
vehicle transactions in Ontario to OMVIC.
